Silver Wedding Anniversary

On the 13th September 2008 Sheelagh and Tony celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in the corral. This was another happy event with over 50 people enjoying a typical Spanish lunch followed in the evening by a great hot buffet supplied by our friends Karen and Fernando who run Bar Health in Lanjarón. Dancing followed into the early hours to a live Blues/Reggae band.

It was lovely to see so many friends and family making the journey from UK to join us - many of them seeing La Joya for the first time.

The long weekend (which included Sheelagh’s birthday - another small party around the pool!) was blessed with fine, sunny weather which was a great relief as there had been a thunder storm on the previous Wednesday and it rained again the day after the last guest left! Perfect! They all saw La Joya at its very best.

The Big Wedding

The Wedding of Gus and Claire took place in the Corral on 2nd September 2006. This was the motivation for building the Corral which is a wooden, twelve open sided construction able to be enclosed in the winter. It was started in June 2006 and finished the week before the wedding! It hosted 75 guests to a sit down lunch, was perfect for a display of flamenco on the stage area and later in the evening provided a great dancefloor where everyone threw away their inhibitions and kept going until 3am.

The reception, paella lunch and evening barbeque were catered by our friends and local restaurateurs Antonio and Amparo from Los Faroles who gave up running their restaurant for a week to devote their energies to our event!

Everyone agreed there has never been a wedding like it! Gus and Claire are still living happily and, we hope, for ever after!
